D&D Stat Block Generator

Roll the skeleton of a monster or NPC stat block — creature type, a signature trait, an action and a flaw, ready for you to balance.

How these names are built

This tool rolls narrative scaffolding, not numbers: a creature archetype, a trait that defines how it fights, one signature action, and a weakness that gives players a puzzle to solve. Numbers are deliberately left to you — balance depends on your party.

How the generator works

Every result is rolled from 15 + 12 + 12 word banks — 2,160 combinations — using your browser's random source. Nothing is typed in by hand and nothing is sent anywhere: the whole tool runs on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the numbers?

Deliberately absent — this generator builds the idea, not the maths. Balance the creature against your party using whatever encounter rules you already run.

Can I use it for NPCs instead of monsters?

Yes — roll the trait and action lines for any antagonist. The archetype line also works as a quick NPC personality.
